Stopped in here one evening on our way to get ice cream. If you aren't looking you will walk right by it. Luckily they put a sign on the sidewalk out front.
The food was great. For some reason a lot of Mexican food places in this area sell California burritos without French fries in it... is that a California burrito then?!?
The only downfall is that it's a little expensive, but i guess if you go eat in downtown Norfolk, you pay the prices...
Overall it was good, not sure if it's somewhere i would frequent regularly just because of location. But i will go again if we do a downtown trip again. -

Round 2 because when you have something good, you gotta get it validated.
+++ California Burrito. If you're solo, get the regular. If you're trying to impress someone, then get the large burrito, but its expensive and save your beer money.
+++ half and half burrito. Same rules apply, but with this you get two types of meat, still the same size of a premature farm animal.
+++ green salsa. They offered this up and so I had to try it. It's pretty damn good, BUT it has seeds, so the risk of getting a seed on the back of your hanging ball exists, and that could be traumatic. It has a little kick.
I really, really like this place but damn it is so expensive.
Downtown = pricey. -

Some days you just want a burrito the size of your forearm.. but of course you also want it to be tasty so that's where California Burrito comes in. The menu claims to be free range, organic, locally grown which is an added plus. I got a regular sized sautéed veggie burrito and hubby got a steak quesadilla. Holy moly these were huge portions! It was so good and I loved it even more when I got to take half of it home to finish for dinner. Loved the variety of veggies and how soft the tortilla was.
There's a good amount of booth seating available and you can peek into the kitchen to see what they're up to as well. Transparency, I like it! Definitely worth a stop if you want a food coma! -

Gah I really hate writing reviews like this but geez this place fell off big time! What happened to the free chips and salsa? And competent staff?? And most important of all, the delicious food?
Decided to come visit since it had been awhile, and I was craving a taco salad. So I saw salad on the menu, and I asked the woman working if the salad comes in a taco bowl. You know, meaning the tortilla shell bowls that taco salads are normally prepared in?? She then replied, you can get either a hard or soft taco shell. Okay, I thought. So I went ahead and got the carne asada taco salad, with rice in a hard shell. Why did it take this lady nearly 5 minutes to ring up my order?? She looked confused as hell and had the other lady working come up to help her. To save her the trouble, I was going to have her cancel my order, to which she replied "it's okay". When they finally got their ish together and rung up my order I patiently waited for my food to be prepared...but it wasn't a taco salad, it was just a friggin taco. What the heck...so I went back and told her this isn't what I ordered. Again another confused expression on the cashier's face. Forget it, I no longer had the patience and just ate the taco, knowing I wouldn't be coming back again. -

Decent burrito. I ordered the vegetarian burrito, which has pico de Gallo, rice, black beans, and lettuce. My fiancé ordered the signature California Burrito, which he said was really good. The Veggie Burrito was surprising light and as someone who can never eat an entire burrito, I was able to do so here. There are places that wow and places that are predictably good and that's California Burrito. That's not a bad thing either. It just means you know what you'll get and they deliver on that.
I'm definitely willing to give other menu options a try because of their solidness.
